V Line Boards bring a distinctive V-shaped groove to Knotwood's cladding range, giving each board a defined line of depth that adds architectural character beyond a flat or shadow-line profile. The V-groove casts a more pronounced shadow than a recessed joint, giving the facade more texture and depth at close viewing distance. Available in two sizes, so the profile can suit a full elevation or a feature section paired with a flatter profile elsewhere on the same building.
V Line Boards suit premium residential and commercial facades where the groove line adds depth without a heavy or highly textured look. They work well as a feature section paired with a flatter profile such as Classic Boards on the broader run, as the primary finish on a facade that needs visual interest at close range, or on architect-led projects where material character is part of the design brief.
V Line Boards share the same aluminum construction, concealed fixings and architectural-grade finishes as the rest of Knotwood's cladding range. As an aluminum system, it doesn't rot, split, cup or need the painting and sanding cycle timber demands, holding its finish through heat, UV exposure and coastal conditions across the USA.
V Line Boards come in two sizes, 4 inch and 6 inch, so the same profile can suit a full elevation or a smaller feature section. Boards install with an interlocking fixing system in standard 18 foot 6 inch lengths, and a ventilated option is available where airflow behind the facade matters. Minimum order quantities and extended lead times may apply, contact Knotwood for details.
V Line Boards install vertically using the standard Top Hat substructure (KECT9025), with Base Trim (F) and Slotted Cover Trim (M) finishing each edge. The V-groove reads as a continuous vertical reveal down the facade, with concealed fixings throughout and corner and window detailing handled by dedicated trims rather than site fabrication.
For horizontal runs, each course starts on the Interlocking Starter (KEDS), with V Line Boards clipping together via the cladding clip system (1 1/8", KACC) and finishing against Base Trim (F) and Cover Trim (M) at open edges. The V-groove runs horizontally across the facade, creating a strong horizontal rhythm at each joint.
The Interlocking Starter (KEDS) establishes the first course of a V Line Boards run in either orientation, giving the profile a clean, consistent starting edge before the interlocking clip system takes over for every subsequent course.
V Line Boards share the same trim family as the rest of the Interlocking system: Base Trim (F) and Cover Trim (M) for open edges, Slotted Cover Trim for vertical runs, Joiner Trim (base and cover) for board-to-board joins along a run, and Z Trim/Packer for standoff detailing.
Internal and external corners are available for both vertical and horizontal cladding, using Reversable Base and Cover Corner Trims that work either as a standard square corner or, with the 135° Angle Corner trim set, as an angled corner detail.
Our interlocking boards can be spaced apart for a shadowline look.
Combine different board sizes to craft a distinctive look.
Mix and match different wood grain finishes to create a layered, natural wood-look surface.
Our 4 inch boards can flex around curved surfaces, opening up creative possibilities for unique and organic designs.
V groove siding is a cladding profile where a V-shaped groove runs along each board, creating a defined line of depth across the facade. Knotwood’s V Line Boards deliver this in aluminum: each board carries a distinctive V-groove that adds genuine architectural depth to the surface, more visual interest than a flat board while remaining more restrained than a castellated or dimensional profile.
V Line Boards sit in the middle of Knotwood’s cladding range. They have more depth and visual interest than a flush or shadow-line board, but are less bold than Castellated or Fixed Gap profiles. The V-groove runs along the board face, giving the individual board an architectural character that a flatter profile does not have. This makes it a strong choice for facades that want a premium, considered finish without heavy texture.
V Line Boards suit premium residential and commercial facades where the groove line adds depth without a heavy or highly textured look. They work well as a feature section paired with a flatter profile like Classic Boards elsewhere on the same building, as the primary finish on a facade that needs visual interest at close range, and on architect-led projects where material character matters as part of the design brief.
Yes. V Line Boards are designed to work alongside other Knotwood cladding profiles on the same project. A common approach is to use V Line Boards on a feature section or facade panel and pair them with a flatter profile such as Classic Boards on the broader run. Because all Knotwood cladding shares the same fixing system, concealed fittings, and finish range, profiles can be combined without sourcing from different suppliers.
V Line Boards are available in two sizes, 4 inch (KEC100V) and 6 inch (KEC150V), in standard lengths of 18.6 feet or 21 feet.
V Line Boards are available in traditional solid powder coated colors or a sublimated wood grain aluminum finish. Because the V groove throws a shadow line along every board, the finish reads differently across the face than it does on a flat profile, which is worth looking at on a sample rather than on screen. The current U.S. range is set out on our finishes page.
Yes. As an aluminum siding system, V Line Boards do not rot, split, cup or require the painting and sanding cycle that wood boards demand. The architectural-grade finish is applied to the aluminum profile itself, not laid over it as a coating that has to be stripped and reapplied on a cycle. Maintenance is limited to periodic washing with a soft broom, water and a pH-neutral detergent.
Aluminum is non-combustible under ASTM E136, and V Line Boards are ASTM E84 Class A rated and CAN/ULC-S114 fire-tested, with Florida Product Approvals 27460.1 through 27460.4. Compliance is never assessed on the cladding alone. The complete wall system, including framing, weather barrier, insulation, fasteners and cavity protection, has to be tested or assessed as a code-compliant assembly under the applicable I-Code as adopted by your jurisdiction. Send us the wall build-up and we will confirm what test evidence is available.
Backed by a standard 15-year warranty and up to 25 years on selected finishes. See our warranty page for the terms that apply to this profile.
V Line Boards are made from tempered extruded aluminum alloy, sourced and produced in the United States.
