Classic Boards is Knotwood's adjustable aluminum cladding profile, engineered to deliver either a refined shadow-line reveal or a clean, flat finish line from the same board. Each board features a designed leg for extra support, giving a facade quiet rhythm and a considered look without competing with the rest of the design. Available in four sizes, so the same profile can suit anything from a subtle feature strip to a full elevation.
Classic Boards works equally well as the primary finish on a new build or as a considered match to an existing facade on a renovation. The horizontal profile reads as considered rather than overtly modern, so it suits contemporary residential and commercial facades where clean, horizontal lines are already part of the design language.
Classic Boards shares the same aluminum construction, concealed fixings and architectural-grade finishes as the rest of Knotwood's cladding range. It's non-combustible, corrosion resistant and low maintenance, with the finish applied in the factory rather than on site, like every other profile in the system.
Classic Boards comes in four sizes, 4 inch, 6 inch, 8 inch and 12 inch, so the same profile can suit anything from a subtle feature strip to a full elevation. Boards install with an interlocking fixing system in standard 18 foot 6 inch lengths, and a ventilated option is available where airflow behind the facade matters.
The boards install vertically using the standard Top Hat substructure (KECT9025), with Base Trim (F) and Slotted Cover Trim (M) finishing each edge. The system uses concealed fixings throughout, with corner and window detailing handled by dedicated trims rather than site fabrication.
For horizontal runs, each course starts on the Interlocking Starter (KEDS), with boards clipping together via the cladding clip system (1 1/8", KACC) and finishing against Base Trim (F) and Cover Trim (M) at open edges.
The Interlocking Starter (KEDS) establishes the first course of a Classic Boards run in either orientation, giving the board range a clean, consistent starting edge before the interlocking clip system takes over for every subsequent course.
There is a full trim family to finish every edge condition: Base Trim (F) and Cover Trim (M) for open edges, Slotted Cover Trim for vertical runs, Joiner Trim (base and cover) for board-to-board joins along a run, Z Trim/Packer for standoff detailing, and dedicated Window Head, Window Jamb, Reveal, Door Head and Service Utility Box trims for openings and service penetrations.
Internal and external corners are available for both vertical and horizontal cladding, using Reversible Base and Cover Corner Trims that work either as a standard square corner or, with the 135° Angle Corner trim set, as an angled corner detail.
Inspiration
At Pearl Street, curved exterior screens and softened walls establish a calm, sculptural rhythm. Silver Wattle tones extend across screens and garage doors, balanced by a natural stone wall.

Classic Boards is Knotwood’s adjustable aluminum cladding profile. Each board can deliver either a refined shadow-line reveal or a clean, flat finish line from the same profile, giving a facade quiet depth and rhythm without a heavy textured look. The system is non-combustible, low-maintenance and available in architectural-grade finishes.
They sit in the middle of Knotwood’s aluminum siding range in terms of visual weight. They have more depth and definition than a flush board but are more restrained than V Line, Castellated or Fixed Gap profiles. The adjustable reveal is subtle: it adds a contemporary look without the bold texture or open-joint gap that more expressive profiles create. It’s a strong choice when the brief calls for a clean, minimal finish with the flexibility to choose the reveal style.
Classic Boards suit contemporary residential and commercial facades where clean horizontal or vertical lines are part of the design language. It works equally well as the primary finish on a new build or as a considered match to an existing facade on a renovation. Because the reveal can be set to subtle rather than bold, it sits comfortably alongside other materials without imposing a heavy architectural statement on the building.
Yes. They are well suited to renovations because the profile is contemporary without being so overtly modern that it clashes with an older building’s structure. The adjustable reveal gives a facade a considered, updated look without breaking the building’s connection to what it was. The aluminum system also means no concern about the new cladding behaving differently to the existing structure as both respond to weather and temperature over time.
Classic Boards are available in four sizes: 4 inch (KEC100), 6 inch (KEC150), 8 inch (KEC200) and 12 inch (KEC300).
The boards use an interlocking fixing system. Each run starts on the Interlocking Starter (KEDS), with boards clipping together via a concealed cladding clip system and fixing to a standard Top Hat substructure. A full range of trims covers joins, corners, window and door openings, and service penetrations.
Yes. A ventilated option is available where airflow behind the facade matters.
Aluminum is non-combustible under ASTM E136, and Classic Boards are ASTM E84 Class A rated and CAN/ULC-S114 fire-tested, with Florida Product Approvals 27460.1 through 27460.4. The profile is also tested to TAS 201, TAS 202 and TAS 203 for impact and cyclic wind pressure. Compliance is never assessed on the cladding alone. The complete wall system, including framing, weather barrier, insulation, fasteners and cavity protection, has to be tested or assessed as a code-compliant assembly under the applicable I-Code as adopted by your jurisdiction. Send us the wall build-up and we will confirm what test evidence is available.
Yes. The range includes internal and external corner trims (including a 135° angle corner option), window head, jamb and reveal trims, door head trim, and a service utility box trim.
Backed by a standard 15-year warranty and up to 25 years on selected finishes. See our warranty page for the terms that apply to this profile.
