As Popeyes continues to expand its presence across the UK, the brand is also evolving the materials and architectural details that define its restaurants. With a growing network of locations, the challenge is to create a recognisable visual identity while choosing materials that can deliver the durability, consistency and low maintenance required of a high-volume hospitality environment.

Rather than relying on natural timber for exterior detailing, Knotwood provided the warmth and visual character of timber with the performance of architectural aluminium.

This approach can be seen at two UK Popeyes locations: Aberdeen and Nottingham. While each site has its own setting and architectural requirements, both demonstrate how a timber-look aluminium system can become a distinctive part of a modernised restaurant format.

Popeyes has been undertaking a significant UK rollout, with the brand announcing 30 new UK sites during 2024, including locations in Aberdeen and Nottingham. For a brand operating at this scale, the appeal is straightforward: a recognisable timber aesthetic, repeatable across multiple locations, combined with the durability, low maintenance and installation advantages of aluminium.
