At One Brighton, a carefully considered façade renovation has given the building a renewed sense of warmth, consistency, and longevity.

The existing timber cladding had begun to show the effects of long-term exposure, creating an opportunity to update the exterior with a material solution better suited to the demands of a high-density residential environment. Rather than changing the building’s architectural character, the renovation focused on preserving the natural appeal of timber while improving the façade’s performance and durability.

Knotwood’s 150mm aluminium cladding boards in Natural Oak were installed across the exterior, replacing the original wood with a refined wood-look finish. The warm, organic grain softens the building’s form, bringing depth and texture to the façade while creating a more cohesive appearance across its multiple levels.

The transformation extended to the balconies, where the original timber balustrade slats were replaced with Knotwood’s 100mm aluminium Flip Battens. Their clean, linear profile introduces greater visual rhythm and definition giving the exterior a more polished and unified presence.

By replacing weathered timber elements with durable, fire-rated aluminium systems, the renovation delivers more than a visual refresh. The new façade is designed to provide improved fire performance, greater resistance to the elements, and reduced long-term maintenance, all while retaining the warmth and character associated with natural wood.

The result is a revitalized building exterior that feels both familiar and renewed. One Brighton demonstrates how a targeted renovation can preserve the original design intent while updating a building for the performance expectations of the future.
