Track Battens fix the alignment before anything visible goes up. A continuous Batten Track goes onto the substructure first, Batten Track Clips slide along it and lock at the spacing you want, then each batten presses onto its clips until it clicks. Because the track sets the reference, spacing is a result of the method rather than something an installer measures at every fixing point.
This system suits ceiling batten runs where consistent spacing and alignment are the priority, interior wall installations where the programme is tight, and feature walls wanting battens set on an angle for a striking finish. It is also the only system in the range that works with an existing suspended ceiling grid, which makes it the one to specify on a commercial fit-out where the grid is already in.
Track Battens share the same 6063 T6 aluminium construction and architectural-grade finishes as the rest of Knotwood's batten range, backed by a 15 year limited warranty on the finish. Because the track carries the whole run's alignment, spacing stays consistent from the first batten to the last, and every fixing point sits behind the batten face where nothing shows.
Available across the 25mm and 50mm suites, with three Batten Track Clip sizes to match. Battens install straight or set on an angle for a feature finish, and a dedicated suspended track integrates with proprietary suspended ceiling grid systems.
The Batten Track fixes to the substructure first, then Batten Track Clips slide onto it and lock at the desired spacing. Each batten presses onto its clips until it clicks into place, concealing every fixing point behind the batten face.
Where batten ends are exposed, purpose-designed end caps tap into position to finish the run, and can be secured with a metal adhesive if required.
The suspended track integrates with a proprietary suspended ceiling grid via its top cross rail and locking key. Cut the track to suit the grid length, secure it to the grid, slide Batten Track Clips on and position them, then press battens into place until they click.
The direct-mount track fixes straight to the substructure. Top hat section, metal hollow section, timber, masonry and concrete are all suitable. Battens can be set straight or on an angle for a striking feature wall finish.
Vary batten spacing to create distinctive visual effects.
Combine different shapes and sizes to craft a unique look.
Mix and match different timber colours to create realistic and dynamic timber looks.
Track battens are an aluminium batten system that uses a track-and-clip fixing method. A continuous track fixes to the substrate first, establishing the alignment for the full run, then Batten Track Clips lock onto the track at the spacing required and individual battens press onto the clips until they click. It is designed to make ceiling and wall batten installations faster and more precisely aligned.
The track is secured to the wall or ceiling substrate first, creating a continuous alignment guide. Clips then slide along the track and lock at the spacing you want, and each batten presses onto its clips. Because the alignment reference is set before any batten is placed, consistent spacing is a result of the process rather than something each installer manages across the run.
Yes, and it is the only Knotwood batten system that can. A dedicated suspended track integrates with a proprietary ceiling grid through its top cross rail and locking key. Cut the track to suit the grid length, secure it, slide the clips on and position them, then press the battens into place. On a commercial fit-out with a grid already installed, that removes the need to strip it out or build a separate substructure.
Yes. Battens can be set on an angle rather than square to the track, which turns a flat wall into a surface that changes as you move past it. The same track and clips are used either way, so an angled run is a design decision rather than a different product.
Fixing the track sets the alignment of the whole run in one step. Battens then clip in sequentially against that fixed reference, so nobody measures and adjusts each batten individually. On a long ceiling or wall run that removes most of the on-site adjustment and keeps the result consistent from the first batten to the last.
Top hat section, metal hollow section, timber, masonry and concrete are all suitable substrates. Engineering specifications for fixing spans are available by substructure material.
Yes, that is the system’s primary application. Interior walls and ceilings are where alignment is read most closely, because the surface is seen from short range and under even light, and where installation programme tends to be tightest.
All three share the same aluminium construction and architectural-grade finishes. Track battens set the alignment with a continuous track before any batten is placed, and are the only system that mounts to a suspended ceiling grid or sets battens on an angle. Clip battens use individually fixed brackets for a seamless facade or screen finish. Panel battens use a solid backing panel with factory-set bracket spacing for large-span facades and ceilings.
Periodic washing with a soft brush and water, using a pH neutral detergent. No painting, sealing or specialist treatments.
Track battens are 6063 T6 extruded aluminium, classified A2-s1,d0 to BS EN 13501-1. Under Approved Document B, A2-s1,d0 is a material of limited combustibility. Wall and ceiling linings carry their own reaction to fire provisions, stricter in circulation spaces and escape routes than in a general room, so contact our team with the building type and the space the battens are going into and we will provide the classification report reference for your specification.
