Sole.

Designed by 868 Architects and built by Hammercorp, Sole House is a home that captures the relaxed atmosphere of a luxury retreat while meeting the practical needs of everyday family life. Through thoughtful landscaping, natural materiality and flowing indoor-outdoor spaces, the home creates a sense of calm that extends well beyond the holiday season.

Nestled in the leafy suburb of Bardwell Park in southern Sydney, Sole House preserves the character of its original mid-century home while introducing a contemporary palette of durable finishes and warm, tactile materials. According to Lauren Garth, Senior Designer at 868 Architects, the brief centred on creating a peaceful sanctuary for a young family.

“The clients are a couple with children,” explains Garth. “Their vision was to create a home that evokes a sense of peace and relaxation. They have a deep connection to Fiji, which became a major influence on the design, inspiring a calm, resort-like atmosphere.”

From the beginning, the project focused on bringing the restorative qualities of a holiday into everyday living. Open, light-filled spaces, carefully selected materials and a seamless relationship between the home and its landscape encourage moments of rest and connection throughout the day.

Sole House also celebrates Australian family-owned businesses working together to deliver exceptional homes. Constructed by family-owned builder Hammercorp and featuring Knotwood’s Sycamore timber look aluminium soffits, the project demonstrates how craftsmanship, collaboration and enduring materials can combine to create a home that is both beautiful and built for family life.
