V Line aluminium cladding boards are a flat board with a V-shaped groove running along each join, giving a facade a sharp, contemporary line without heavy texture. Knotwood’s V Line sits between the simplicity of a flush finish and the bolder depth of a dimensional or castellated profile. Available in two sizes, so the same profile can suit a feature area or a full elevation.
V Line aluminium cladding boards occupy a considered middle ground in the range, more visual interest than a flat or shadow line profile, without the bold dimensionality of a castellated or dimensional board. A V Line section can anchor a feature area, complement a simpler cladding run elsewhere on the same building, or provide a premium finish where the profile is meant to be noticed at close range.
V Line aluminium cladding boards share the same construction, concealed fixings and architectural-grade finishes as every Knotwood system. They’re non-combustible, corrosion resistant and low maintenance, holding up through the same conditions as every other profile in the range.
V Line aluminium cladding boards come in two sizes, 100mm and 150mm. Boards install with an interlocking fixing system in 6500mm lengths, using a V-shaped interlocking groove, and a ventilated option is available where airflow behind the facade matters.
V Line Boards install vertically using the same interlocking system as a horizontal run, each board clicking into the one beside it and fixed with concealed screws into the substructure. Installation follows a left-to-right sequence, working the same finishing trims, corners and starter used on a horizontal wall.
Each V Line board interlocks into the one below it, starting from a base trim at the bottom of the run and working up the wall. Fixings sit behind the board face, so the finished wall shows a clean, uninterrupted surface with no visible screws.
An interlocking starter trim sets the angle for the first board and locks every board after it into place, giving the whole run a secure, consistent base to build from, whether the boards run horizontally or vertically.
Base and cover trims finish the exposed top and bottom edges of a V Line run, concealing fixings and giving the installation a clean edge wherever a wall plane starts or stops.
Internal, external and 135-degree angle corner trims let a V Line run continue cleanly around a building’s corners without cutting into the board profile, keeping the same interlocking system and V-groove unbroken across every face.
Boards can be spaced apart to open up the gap between them for a deeper shadow line.
Combine different board sizes to craft a distinctive look.
Mix and match different timber colours to create realistic and dynamic timber looks.
Our 100mm boards can flex around curved surfaces, opening up creative possibilities for unique and organic designs.
V Line cladding is a cladding profile where a V-shaped groove runs along each board, creating a defined line of depth across the facade. Knotwood’s V Line Boards deliver this in aluminium: each board carries a distinctive V-groove that adds genuine architectural depth to the surface, more visual interest than a flat board while remaining more restrained than a castellated or dimensional profile.
V Line Boards sit in the middle of Knotwood’s cladding range. They have more depth and visual interest than a flush or shadow line board, but they are less bold than castellated or dimensional profiles. The V-groove runs along the board face rather than creating a shadow reveal between boards, giving the individual board itself an architectural character that a flatter profile does not have. This makes it a strong choice for facades that want a premium, considered finish without heavy texture.
V Line Boards come in two board widths: 100mm and 150mm. Boards are supplied in 6500mm lengths and install with a V-shaped interlocking groove. A ventilated option is available where airflow behind the facade matters, and the 100mm board can flex around curved surfaces.
Yes. Knotwood aluminium cladding profiles, including V Line, are non-combustible. V Line is tested to AS 1530.1 and AS/NZS 1530.3 for combustibility and early fire hazard properties, and carries a Group One classification under AS 5637.1. Group Numbers are what the National Construction Code uses to set where a lining material can be used. For projects with formal compliance requirements, send us your building class and we will confirm the documentation for your project.
Knotwood cladding carries a standard 15 year warranty, with up to 25 years on selected finishes. The term that applies depends on the finish specified, and the full terms and conditions are set out on our warranty page. If you need warranty documentation for a submission or for a client, send us the request and we will supply it.
Knotwood does not publish fixed pricing, because cladding is quoted on specification. The main variables are the board size, the finish, the total area and the trims the detail requires. V Line uses the same starters, corners and cover trims as the wider cladding range, and those matter to the final figure as much as the boards do. Send us your elevations and we will quote it.
V Line Boards are available in traditional solid powder coated colours and in a sublimated timber grain surface, the same architectural-grade finish range used across the Knotwood cladding system. That means V Line can be specified alongside Shadow Line or any other Knotwood profile on the same facade with a consistent finish. The full range is on our finishes page.
Yes. V Line Boards are designed to work alongside other Knotwood cladding profiles on the same project. A common approach is to use V Line on a feature section or facade panel and pair it with a flatter profile, such as Shadow Line, on the broader run. Because all Knotwood cladding shares the same fixing system, concealed fittings and finish range, profiles can be combined without sourcing from different suppliers.
Yes. As an aluminium cladding system, Knotwood V Line aluminium cladding boards do not rot, split, cup or require the painting and sanding cycle that timber boards demand. Periodic washing with a soft broom, water and a pH neutral detergent is all that is needed, and more often on coastal installations to clear salt deposits before they sit on the finish. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent-based cleaners, since those can mark the powder coat.Finish warranty terms are set out on our warranty page.
V Line Boards suit premium residential and commercial facades where the groove line adds depth without a heavy or highly textured look. They work well as a feature section paired with a flatter profile elsewhere on the same building, as the primary finish on a facade that needs visual interest at close range, and on architect-led projects where material character matters as part of the design brief.
