Aluminium partitions are screen systems used to divide a space without building a full wall. Knotwood partitions are built from timber-look aluminium screens, made in Australia, in finishes that carry across the cladding, battens and ceilings in the same project.
Open-plan spaces need definition without walls. Knotwood’s aluminium partitions, built from our screens, let architects, designers and builders shape a space without closing it in, adding structure, privacy and visual interest where a full wall would be too much.
Timber dividers can look good when they’re new, but commercial interiors put real demands on a material. Knocks, humidity shifts, daily wear. Timber marks, swells and loses its finish faster than a space that’s meant to last for years can afford. Knotwood’s aluminium profiles bring the same natural, architectural look without those trade-offs, durable, low maintenance and stable.
These systems show up most in office and workplace fit-outs that need flexible zoning, and in hospitality and retail spaces where partitions double as a design feature. They also suit reception and lobby areas that call for a considered architectural divider, and residential open-plan living where definition is needed without full enclosure.
Knotwood Screen Systems create a fixed architectural divider. They suit zone definition, reception areas and feature elements between spaces that need visual separation.
Yes. Knotwood’s aluminium partitions are highly customisable to fit specific dimensions and design requirements. Pattern, batten spacing and orientation can all be tailored to suit a project, and a wide selection of colours and finishes is available for a personalised architectural result. Both screen and louvre partitions can be configured to match or complement other Knotwood products used elsewhere in a project.
Timber dividers look good when new, but commercial environments put real demands on the material. Knocks, humidity shifts and daily wear cause timber to mark, swell and lose its finish. Knotwood’s aluminium profiles deliver the same natural, architectural look. The profiles are lightweight, durable and non-warping, and the finish holds well after installation, which matters as much to the building owner as to the installer.
Knotwood aluminium partition screens and room dividers are commonly specified for office and workplace fit-outs that need flexible zoning, hospitality and retail spaces where partitions double as design features, reception and lobby areas that benefit from a considered architectural divider, and residential open-plan living areas where definition is needed without full enclosure. The systems suit both new builds and commercial refurbishments.
Knotwood screen partitions use open, modular aluminium profiles that define zones visually and architecturally without creating a solid wall. The profile spacing allows light and air to pass through, maintaining the sense of openness in a space while clearly delineating different areas. This is the practical advantage of a screen partition over a full wall, particularly in hospitality, retail and open-plan residential settings.
Yes. Fixed louvre partitions shape sightlines and manage light ingress by design, with the louvre angle determining how much visibility and light passes through from one space to the next. Operable louvre partitions go further, allowing occupants to adjust privacy and light levels as needed throughout the day. This dual function makes louvre partition systems a common choice in hospitality, office and high-end residential projects.
Yes. Knotwood aluminium partition systems are designed for durability and low maintenance, which is a key advantage in commercial environments where regular upkeep is costly and disruptive. The aluminium profiles do not warp, swell or mark the way timber does, and the powder coat finish is stable over time. Routine cleaning is typically all that is required to keep the systems looking their best.
Yes. Knotwood partition screens are designed to read as part of the architecture rather than as an afterthought. In hospitality, retail, reception areas and commercial fit-outs, they are regularly specified as feature elements in their own right, bringing visual interest, texture and a considered finish to a space. The range of profiles, finishes and colours supports this design-forward application.
Yes. Knotwood’s aluminium partitions, both screen and louvre systems, are made in Australia. This supports local supply chains and reduces lead times for Australian commercial and residential projects. The modular systems are manufactured to Australian standards and are available in the architectural-grade finishes and colours used across the broader Knotwood range.
Knotwood partition systems use concealed fixings throughout, which means no exposed fasteners on the finished screen or louvre surface. Multiple installation methods are available to suit different flooring, ceiling and structural configurations. The modular profile system is designed to be adapted to specific project dimensions, and both fixed and operable louvre configurations are supported within the same product family.
Knotwood aluminium partition systems are available in a wide selection of colours and finishes, including wood-look and powder coat options in architectural-grade quality. The finish range is consistent across the broader Knotwood product line, which makes it straightforward to specify partitions that complement other Knotwood systems used on the same project, such as wall battens, ceiling systems or exterior cladding.
Yes. Knotwood aluminium partitions are non-combustible and tested to AS 1530.1 and AS/NZS 1530.3, the standards that govern internal linings. They are suitable where the National Construction Code requires non-combustible materials. Send us your building class and we will confirm the documentation for your project.
Not on their own. A screen or louvre partition defines a space visually while deliberately letting air and light through, so sound passes through it too. If a fit-out needs genuine acoustic separation between zones, that calls for a solid partition system rather than a screen. Where a partition sits alongside acoustic treatment elsewhere in the space, Knotwood’s Track Batten system is designed to hold acoustic backing behind the battens, and the rating achieved depends on the backing used. Tell us what you are trying to achieve and we will point you to the right system.
Partition height is set by the fixing, not by the profile. A partition fixed at both floor and ceiling can run full height, while a freestanding or floor-fixed partition is limited by what the base fixing and the floor structure can carry. In a commercial fit-out that usually comes down to the ceiling grid and the slab. Send us the height you are after and how the partition will be fixed, and we will confirm what the system can do.
Inspiration
Outdoor living flows seamlessly against a timeless seaside backdrop. Classic and contemporary elements converge, while a pool, landscaped seating and Hinoki toned vertical and horizontal screens shade and frame the greenery, creating a harmonious rhythm that celebrates light, texture and the serene, restorative qualities of coastal living.
Inspiration
Drawing from Palm Springs’ enduring appeal, these homes combine clean lines, flat planes and a vibrant yet restrained aesthetic. Retro glamour meets timeless sophistication through geometric forms and refined textures, while vertical Norwegian Beech and Spruce detailing introduces rhythm, warmth and cohesion across the façades.
